Dr Gishan Ratnayake

Dr Gishan Ratnayake is a Radiation Oncologist and Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland. He subspecialises in lung cancer, breast cancer and head and neck cancers and has a special interest in stereotactic radiotherapy.

Education

Dr Ratnayake completed his medical degree at Monash University in Melbourne and went on to complete his specialty training in Radiation Oncology in Queensland. As part of his training he pursued a clinical scientist pathway, and was awarded a Masters of Philosophy research higher degree from the University of Queensland. After completing his Fellowship in Radiation Oncology, he underwent further training in stereotactic radiotherapy at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.

Research

Dr Ratnayake has a number of peer reviewed publications and has presented his research work at both Australian and international conferences. He continues to be involved in and co-ordinate clinical research in the department. He has a particular interest in radiobiology research and collaborates closely with scientists at the Translational Research Institute.
