A/Prof Mark Pinkham
SPECIALIST AREAS
Associate Professor Mark Pinkham is a Radiation Oncologist and member of the Gamma Knife Centre of Queensland. He specialises in the treatment of melanoma and diseases of the central nervous system including brain metastases.
EDUCATION
Dr Pinkham graduated from Oxford University in 2005 having also attained a Masters Degree with Honours in Physiological Sciences. He completed specialist training in Brisbane and was awarded fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) in 2014. Subsequently he undertook a Clinical Research Fellowship in neuro-oncology and stereotactic radiosurgery at the renowned Christie Hospital, UK which is the largest cancer hospital in Europe.
RESEARCH & PUBLICATIONS
Dr Pinkham is the Director of Research in Radiation Oncology at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He is Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology and Honorary Associate at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney. He runs a number of clinical trials and also supervises PhD and Masters students.
His collaborative research focusses on imaging, treatment and survivorship issues for people with brain tumours. He has published over 50 peer reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. Since 2015, his work has attracted more than AU$12 million in government and private investment, including NHMRC and Cancer Australia.
AWARDS & MEMBERSHIPS
Dr Pinkham is involved with a number of professional organisations including inaugural Chair of the CNS working party within TROG (TransTasman Radiation Oncology Group) and member of the Scientific Advisory Committee within COGNO (Co-Operative Group for Neuro-Oncology).
He was clinical lead for an expert panel developing national treatment guidelines for the management of brain metastases and glioma. He is an educator for the Queensland Radiation Oncology Training Network and past examiner of trainees for RANZCR, Faculty of Radiation Oncology.
