PA Giving Day Success
The Princess Alexandra Hospital Radiation Oncology Department provides cancer treatment to over 2000 patients every year, delivering highly specialised radiation therapy for common cancers, rare malignancies and benign conditions with varying degrees of complexity.
While our primary focus is on the delivery of high-quality cancer treatment, we also strive to provide a comfortable and welcoming healthcare environment that supports our patient’s well-being.
With this in mind, our oncology team has been examining how we can reshape & refresh our department to make it more patient friendly. This work has identified several small projects, “and a few big ones” that aim to improve the look, function and comfort of our facility for patients receiving radiation therapy.
To help kickstart some of these projects the PA Radiation Oncology Department recently participated in the PA Giving Day organised by the PA Research Foundation. This unique event partners fundraisers with generous matching donors who quadruple the funds raised for various initiatives across the spectrum of health care services provided by the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Thanks to a number of generous donations by staff, friends, family and the general public the PA Radiation Oncology team raised a total $39035.00 for the event.
Around 50% of the donations received by the PA Radiation Oncology team will be used to enhance patient areas within the Radiation Oncology department, while the other half will be administered by the PA Research Foundation for various hospital wide health care activities. A big thank you to all those contributed to the “We’re all 4 the Heroes” PA Giving Day and in particular to the PA Radiation Oncology team.
We look forward to sharing with you soon how your donation has been used to improve our facilities for patients receiving radiation therapy.
