Professor Margot Lehman, Director of Radiation Oncology at Princess Alexandra Ipswich Road campus, has been awarded the Roentgen Medal for 2020 from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR).

Prof. Lehman is being honoured for her valued contribution to the Faculty of Radiation Oncology over a significant period of time, specifically with regard to her roles in postgraduate education, as the Chief Censor of the Faculty and in her leadership in the development of a new training program.

The Roentgen Medal is one of the highest awards bestowed by RANZCR

"I'm honoured to have been nominated by my colleagues and to have my contribution recognised by being the recipient of this award," said Prof. Lehman.

The Roentgen Medal is part of a comprehensive nomination process through the College and is awarded on merit for commitment to initiatives and improvements, championing support of trainees and considers national and international bodies of influence in Radiation Oncology.

For those who know and work with Prof. Lehman, this acknowledgement is well founded and a testament to her enduring commitment to patients, the profession and to PA Radiation Oncology.

The Roentgen Medal is named after Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen - a German mechanical engineer and physicist, who, on 8 November 1895, produced and detected electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range known as X-rays or Röntgen rays, an achievement that earned him the inaugural Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901.
